£30,584 raising to £31,196 after successful probation (Pro rata – based on 38-hour week)

Who are Ambient Support?

Ambient Support, a registered UK charity with over 25 years’ experience in providing care and support services for older people, people with a mental health needs and people with learning disabilities.

Our service in Ipswich has 23 self-contained one bed apartments arranged over three floors, offered to over 60’s who wish to live an independent life but may require some additional care and support at times.

We are situated in the Stoke area of Ipswich, within easy reach of the transport facilities and wide range of facilities in central Ipswich.

 

The role of our Registered Manager

  • You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, overseeing all activities within the service. As the Registered Manager with CQC you will be responsible for making sure the quality of the service and care provided meets the Fundamental standards as well as the standards set by Ambient Support.
  • To be on call ‘out of hours’ for our OP Services across Ambient Support
  • Planning the delivery of the care and support to the people living in the service.
  • Respecting the values, beliefs, and culture of each individual
  • Ensuring that any concerns, complaints, or requests are responded to effectively.
  • Assessing and minimising risks in order to keep each individual safe.
  • Ensuring that each person we support has a person-centred care plan which is continually reviewed with the individual and their family.
  • You will take responsibility for the selection, management and development of all staff working within the service.
  • You will be responsible for marketing of the service.
  • You will have a key liaison relationship with the landlord and the Local council.
  • To work flexibly over a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year basis, according to the requirements of the individuals being supported.
  • To act at all times in accordance with Equal Opportunities legislation with regard to people who we support and staff.
  • To participate in and contribute to any other working groups or meetings as required.

 

Skills and attributes of our Registered Manager:

  • A broad range of care skills for older people living in Extra Care housing including supporting activities for older people in care.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal and written both internally and external to the service.
  • Good IT skills including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, the Internet, and electronic care management systems.
  • Competent approach to budgets and petty cash procedures.
  • Ability to complete and check monitoring sheets and devise rotas.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • An understanding of discrimination experienced by minority groups due to ethnic origin, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation.  The postholder must be able to demonstrate an awareness and ability to relate this knowledge to the needs of older people.
  • Knowledge and understanding of specific conditions that affect older people such as Dementia.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Good Observational and assessment skills.
